Use Overhead Conveyor To Process Oysters? Chainveyor® Knows How.

Chainveyor® is the manufacturer of overhead conveyors for paint lines. We sell a lot of those. We even provide overhead conveyors for unusual painting situations. Such as painting decoys for duck hunting.

Our overhead chain conveyors also make up systems that deliver to assembly lines, to box lines and even lines that take away trash from a manufacturing process. We have systems that carry store displays at Disney and high-end department stores.

After all these years in business, Chainveyor® is accustomed to being presented with unusual conveying needs. Coming up with an oyster shucking line was well within our abilities and experience.

Our client harvests oysters in Chesapeake Bay. Some of those harvested are “wild” and collected from their natural beds. These beds can stretch for miles.

Other oysters are “farmed.” Farming is a sustainable practice that grows the oysters from oyster seed and then moves them into “adolescent floats” to mimic natural oyster beds. Farming allows oyster stocks to replenish while providing a sustainable harvest.

Once the oysters are harvested, our client shucks them and discards the shells. The oysters are processed, packaged and shipped to seafood markets, grocery stores and restaurants.

The process involves taking the fresh oysters from the boats, putting them into “buckets” and transporting them down a line of people who shuck the oysters. The shells go one way; the oysters go to be packaged and shipped.

Efficiency and rate are important. Commercial oyster shuckers are skilled pros. They can shuck dozens of oysters per minute. They don’t want to run out of oysters or become overwhelmed. The line moves continuously and sets the rate of production. Chainveyor® has the experience to do that.
